Home Addition Insurance

We all love our homes. When you think about it, the saying really is true: home is where the heart is. We put a lot of time and effort (sometimes more than we’d like) into maintaining and improving our homes. Knowing how much of a hassle moving can be and the prices of homes these days, when people need more space they frequently add on to their current homes. Sure there is some hassle that comes with remodeling or adding on to your home, but if you get to stay in the home you love and get more space… why not? If you are thinking about adding on to your home or have already started to, remember to
talk to your insurance agent!

We hate to add on to the list of things you already have to do. We know you have to hire a contractor, design your new space and get all the permits you’ll need, but it’s important to make sure your new space will be insured under your MA homeowner’s insurance policy. Depending on what the new space in your home will include or how large it is, you may find yourself under insured and trust us, you don’t want that! When adding to the structure your home, it is best to add coverage on your home insurance policy as well. Call your agent and make sure they are up to date on the new addition. This way they can ask any questions they need to know about the space and make sure the new area in your home is properly covered under your Massachusetts Home Insurance Policy.
