Clean, Take Inventory and make an Investment in your Community
Everyone knows the term “spring-cleaning” but most people are too lazy to go through with it every year. However, there may be more to spring cleaning than just making your house look nice for the spring. By cleaning your entire house in and out in the spring you can identify little issues that could develop into pricey problems in the future. Also keeping proper maintenance of your home is an easy way to save you thousands in repairs down the road. With the prices of gas and pretty much everything else on the rise, cost prevention is becoming more popular than ever!
One good activity to practice during you spring cleaning session is to take an inventory, you also should update your MA Homeowner’s Insurance policy to make sure your belongings are covered. Also even though it may be unconventional, you should clean the siding on the exterior of your home, because it can help preserve the material. Sometimes it is the little things like cleaning up your house in the spring that can make a major difference.
In a slightly different direction one non-profit organization has figured out a way to turn spring cleaning into an event that gives back to the community. The organization is called More Than Words and this April they are holding “More than a Spring Cleaning” event, in which they are encouraging Massachusetts citizens to donate household items that aren’t getting used anymore. The organization’s goal is to receive donations of up to 7,500 books, CDs, and DVDs. More Than Words helps support foster care centers for the youth, homeless shelters, and public schools. One of the organization’s major missions is to try to empower youth with tough lives, to go out into to the business world and achieve success. Now you have an additional reason to get off the couch this spring and clean!
