CO Detectors for MA Business Insurance
The presence of carbon monoxide in a home is extremely dangerous since it cannot be seen or smelt. Last week in Westfield, it is very unfortunate to hear that a loss in one home could have been prevented with a carbon monoxide detector. Massachusetts law requires that every home have a CO detector on each level, as well as within 10 feet of each bedroom. Be sure to check the batteries regularly to ensure the CO detector is working properly.
Signs and symptoms of CO poisoning are as follows, and can easily be mistaken for fatigue or flu:
- Lightheadedness
- Tiredness
- Feeling like you want to take a nap or go to sleep
- Cherry red skin
Be sure to contact your local fire department if you even suspect the possibility of CO symptoms. Your home can easily be tested with specialized equipment. Talk to your MA insurance agent to be sure that your home is adequately protected. Agents at Encharter Insurance are familiar with carrier requirements. According to Encharter’s own Ben B., Massachusetts property owners are in charge of renting out a piece of property. However, it is also the landlord’s responsibility to be in compliance with the law. There are added liability issues that could result in a landlord’s non-compliance. Check up on your Massachusetts Business Insurance to be sure that your properties fit the needs of the MA law.
