Fireworks Safety Tips
As you can imagine the Fourth of July is the most popular time for Fireworks Accidents. It’s important to be safe if you plan on setting off or even being near fireworks this July 4th. Anything from burns to blindness can occur if you are handling fireworks and aren’t sure what you’re doing. The best way to enjoy the 4th is probably with a fireworks display put on by someone else, but if you will be in charge of your own fireworks this year, read over these fireworks safety tips. Before that, make sure you have checked with local laws and regulations for fireworks. Make sure the fireworks you will be setting off are legal and you have any permits you will need.
- Never let children play with or around fireworks.

- Never place any body parts over a fireworks device.
- Carefully read and follow all label instructions.
- Light only one at a time.
- Buy your fireworks from a reliable source.
- Wear the correct safety gear, including goggles, when handling fireworks.
- Avoid bottle rockets as their path is erratic.
If there is a fireworks accident or any other sort of accident when you’re celebrating this 4th of July, make sure that person gets the medical attention they need. Between fireworks, pool parties, and bonfires, celebrations and parties can easily result in accidents if you aren’t careful. Worried about accidents occurring at your home? Make sure your Connecticut Home Insurance is up to date. Talk with your agent about making sure you have the liability coverage you need for accidents that can occur at your party. Also talk with them about making sure you have no gaps in your coverage if a fire or other disaster that could damage your home were to occur. If you’re playing host to a 4th of July BBQ, especially if you plan on lighting fireworks, be safe and protected first.
