GE Washing Machine Recall
I will admit it…one of my favorite shows to watch on television is America’s Funniest Home Videos. So after years of watching washing machine mishaps on that show, and combine that with some stuff on Youtube, and I think it’s safe to say that the only thing people want coming out of their washer is their clean clothes. But according to a recent article, at least 7 owners of GE washing machines have had “flames shooting out of them”, which resulted in a recall of “certain models of GE front loading washers sold nationwide between December 2006 and May 2010…”. Authorities are estimating that about 181,000 washing machines are involved in the recall and that the cause of the fires is “faulty wiring”. For more detailed information about the recall and how to contact GE if you suspect there is an issue with your washing machine, see the article.
On a lighter note (if there could be such a thing with a story like this…), if your washing machine were to catch fire, it would be covered under your Homeowner’s Insurance policy. In this situation, your insurance carrier would pay and then they would get the money back from the party at fault; in this case, it would be GE.
