“Get on the Shelf” Contest & CT Business Insurance

Wal-Mart launched a crazy new contest in February called Get on the Shelf which gives small business owners, entrepreneurs, and individual inventors the chance to have their invention or product sold in their store. The top three products will be sold on their website and the number one product will be sold on shelves of select stores. The winners of the first round will be revealed this week and the second round will run from April 11-24. The ideas were all so different and so creative and it will be interesting to see what ultimately is sold on shelves!

Among the wide range of products that you may be able to buy this year are clothes, accessories, children’s toys, and home improvement tools. Some of the highlights I saw were the Cardoo, Hug & Heel, Hardcase and the Snazzy Sun Float. Cardoo is a children’s card that includes word games, board games, word searches, and even recipes. Hug & Heel is an ice pack that looks like a stuffed animal designed for kids. For the more grown-up market they also have an iPhone case that has a bottle opener attached, otherwise known as a “Headcase”. There is also a pool float designed to allow you to comfortably lay on your stomach, known as the Snazzy Sun Float.

Opportunities like these are great for small businesses and entrepreneurs.  Sometimes getting started with your idea is the hardest part.
