How To Increase Google+ Engagement
Despite many people’s opposition to Google+ and their questions about its benefits, Google+ is a product of Google. As Google’s algorithm updates continue to include more things social, being involved and having a presence on the search engine giant’s own social network can’t be a negative. Of course, engagement is key for the profile to be a positive for your brand in Google’s eyes. Check out the five tips below for growing your Google+ engagement!
Be easy to find! Add Google+ to your social media buttons on your website, emails, and other marketing materials. This will allow people to find your profile simply by clicking on a button!
Strategically network within your circles. By organizing your followers into different circles, you can post content to a specific group of people or check in on this specific group versus your entire following list. You can use keyword searching to decide which circle a particular follower should be placed into.
Various types of compelling content. Your visual content should include images, videos and infographics in order to increase engagement on your posts and encourage your followers to share your content. Be a source for reference by posting helpful industry-specific information, or how-to’s. Keep in mind that while these posts can be more text-lengthy, it is still beneficial to post an image where possible. Did you know that you can use hashtags on Google+, in a similar fashion as you would use them on Twitter? You can use hashtags to find relevant conversations, trending topics and related posts.
Be proactive! Don’t wait for followers to engage with you. Just because you posted something on your profile doesn’t mean people have to interact with it, even if you asked for some sort of action. In addition to your own posts, comment on other people’s posts and participate in existing conversations. Something else to look into – the “What’s trending?” topics on the Google+ homepage.
Join communities and hangouts. Both of these Google+ features promote engagement and connecting with potential followers. Communities focus around a particular interest. Join a few relevant to your industry or business, and be sure to participate regularly. Hangouts are live interactions which encourage open lines of communication. Google+ Hangouts on Air (HOA) are live-stream videos which engage an audience – a great tool for businesses to try out. You can even post the recorded footage to YouTube and link it back to your site for extra SEO!
These are just five ideas to increase engagement on your Google+ page. Do you have any other idea? Leave them in the comments! Also, don’t be afraid to check out Encharter Insurance’s Google+ profile!
