How to Stay Dry During a Halloween Storm

Nothing says “Happy Halloween” like a snow storm, right Massachusetts? While we don’t agree with that statement, it appears Mother Nature may want to make Halloween storms a tradition. Weather forecasters are saying that Massachusetts could be hit with another storm this year, only this time it would be heavy rain ruining trick-or-treaters nights. It’s still early to tell, but if the Tropical Storm does make its way up here, it could be a spooky night of fast winds and heavy rain, making the trick-or-treating conditions almost as bad as the driving conditions.  It’s too early to predict if we’ll be hit again so don’t warn the kids just yet, but let’s all keep our fingers crossed for a normal fall night. If we do have to suffer through another Halloween storm, here are some tips for keeping dry on a wet Halloween night:

  • An umbrella with a hook to hang the candy bag
  • Masks are a great way to keep kids’ faces dry
  • Spray their costume with a water-proofing spray
  • Add warm, water-proof layers under their costume
  • Rain-friendly accessories: hats, rain boots, goggles and even capes can keep kids a little more dry and can often times be worked into the costume idea.

At least preparing for the weather in New England is a little easier than predicting it.
