How to Take Great Social Media Photos
‘Selfies’ need not apply. Every social media account wants to have a great collection of photos to attract fans from across the spectrum, but that can be harder than you think. A great assortment of quality photographs add a certain sense of professionalism that many accounts appear to lack. Use some easy tips to turn normally mundane snapshots into widely shared photos.
Framing & Composition– You do not have to be an expert to pick up these skills. An introductory book to photography will give you the basics of ‘the rule of thirds’, among other fundamental concepts.
Lighting – The ever-frustrating shot where you cannot see have of your friend’s face because they had bad lighting. This aspect can make or break any potentially great photos. A key is to bring your own external lighting source and know how to adjust your camera’s ISO settings. Lastly, plan ahead to have natural lighting work with you, not against you.
Background & Style – Doing your homework will make it all worthwhile in this aspect. Think how you want your shot to come out before you take the photo and set it up accordingly. Also, make sure that the photo is consistent with your company’s images.
Resolution – A high quality photo is key if it is to be passed around on social media. Any slight imperfection at the time of the taking the photo will look dismal when it is blown up in a high resolution display. As technology improves, all of these small scrapes are just going to be more apparent. Make sure that you have high quality camera with a clean lens.
