I’m Deep Frying a Turkey…Now What?
Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, food, and fires? We hope not, but given the amount of time in the 
kitchen and mass amounts of food being cooked up, you never know. Want to really up your odds of a house fire this Thanksgiving? Give the “deep frying your turkey” trend a try.
In all seriousness, it’s a good time to address whether or not your home and Massachusetts home insurance are prepared for a fire. If a small fire breaks out, there are things you should have in place in your home to make sure it stays small or is extinguished. If a big fire breaks out, you’ll want to be sure you have all of the right home insurance coverage in place to potentially rebuild or repair your home. In addition, make sure you have enough contents coverage on your MA homeowners insurance.
Here are some fire safety tips to keep in mind if you are deep frying your turkey this Thanksgiving:
- Choose a SAFE location, with a SAFE distance from your home
- Cooking location should be a flat, hard surface
- Turkey should be thawed and well dried
- Closely monitor the entire process
- Keep children and pets away
- Have a fire extinguisher close at hand
