Keeping Mobile in Mind
I recently read an article on Mashable.com stating that, while evaluating over 500 Facebook pages with large followings, PageLever discovered that “only 5% of new fans came from mobile in May, but that number jumped to 19% in August.”
The strength of mobile is growing (seemingly) day by day and it’s our job as eMarketers to make sure that strength becomes an asset to our strategies and not a thorn in our bloggy paws. Here are a couple of ways to make sure you’re keeping mobile in mind:
- Remember that more and more people are viewing your website content and your eblasts on their smartphones, which means SMALLER SCREENS! Maybe consider less image-heavy eblasts so they don’t have scroll over the big blank boxes with the little red “x’s” in them to get to the meat of your email (or worse yet, they have to download the pictures to actually read your emails!). Try using more text and make it short and sweet. Also, talk to your web developer about how to optimize your website for mobile or talk to them about creating a mobile website.
- Don’t be afraid to let the mobile phenomenon work for you! We all know that the first thing your office visitors do when they sit in reception waiting to be helped is pull out their smartphones—why not ask them to check in? Set up a venue on Foursquare and have your office visitors check in every time they visit. That way, they’ll be telling their friends about your business and they’ll be doing your branding for you! It’s FREE!
Taking advantage of the influence of the mobile-sphere can really help your business grow. Don’t miss the boat by not taking these few easy steps to start making mobile work for your business and your emarketing strategy.
