April has arrived… meaning Alcohol Awareness Month is also upon us! Founded and sponsored by NCADD, Alcohol Awareness Month aims to reduce the stigma that prevents those who need help to seek help. Alcoholism is a disease and may be fatal if it is not recognized!
Now is also a good time to go over drinking and driving with your teen drivers or even a friend who may have an issue. - If you know you will be drinking at a party or friends house, find a designated driver.

- If you notice a friend has had too much to drink, do not hesitate to take their keys or let them spend the night.
- If you are throwing a party, always serve plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverages as well.
- If you notice a swerving or erratically driving vehicle on the road, call 911 to report it.
- NEVER drink alcohol while taking medication. This may not only speed up the effects of alcohol, but could be deadly.
