Read MoreGoogle+ for me is that one friend you keep at a little bit of a distance because you’re still not sure about them. As Google+ continues to roll out updates and changes I like it more and more. I’m starting to think it has the potential to become my “close friend” soon. If you don’t trust my opinion, the fact that there are now 250 million users should prove its worth. As the number of users grows and it becomes more and more user friendly, it’s becoming a more essential part to a marketing plan. How can you use it to enhance your marketing? Let’s take a look:
Include Keywords and Relevant Links on Your About Page. The Google+ About Page isn’t as limiting for space as other social media venues “intro” sections, take advantage of that! Along with using key words, share specific products and services and link back to important pages. G+ even lets you use bullet points, a great opportunity to present your information with the perfect balance of SEO friendly, but also user friendly content.
Connect With Your Whole Audience Using Google+ Events. Don’t worry the people you invite don’t even have to be on Google+. The invites can be for just about everything and they easily synch with Google calendars, how great is that? If you put your event in “party mode” it allows everyone in attendance to upload photos into an album with the Google+ mobile app, which you could later make into a fun slideshow about the event. If you want to utilize Google even more, organize a Google+ hangout for guests!
Post Often and Optimize for Best Search Results. Google’s social search takes into account your social connections, making it even more important to include keywords within your posts. This can help them show up in followers’ search results. Did you know Google’s search algorithm pulls from G+ activity? The more relevant and content based your posts, the more results you will appear in!
Set Up Google Authorship for SEO Benefits. Google authorship on your blog is a great way to get Google to “trust” you as a source. This can also help the content show up in personalized search results and has also been proven to increase click-through rates! Not only is it great for your SEO, but it makes readers feel like your blog is more relatable and personable thanks to your photo showing up right by your name. They feel like they “know” the author better, making the post more trustworthy.
Find Relevant Users and Conversations to Engage With. As in the case with any other social network, finding others in relevant fields and engaging with them is KEY. Check out Google+ Shared Circles Database on your personal account to create a great stream of relevant posts and conversations to join. Use your personal page to promote your business page because you cannot add someone to your circles until they have added you (for your business page). Also build up your saved searches of keywords and mentions and comment and re-share daily.
