What Will I Need If I Get in an Accident?

connecticut car insurance Heaven forbid you got in an accident on a Connecticut back road in the middle of the night, would you truly be prepared?  Most cars these days are completely decked out with high-tech gadgets and gizmos meant to make life better, more comfortable, and easier.  But when it comes down to it, you might still be in trouble if worse comes to worst. The most important thing you will want to make sure you have in this situation is car insurance, but there are also some items you will want to have on you. Do you have all of these items in your car?

Flashlight – and no, the app on your phone doesn’t count.

Tire pressure gauge – In order to prevent dangerous blowouts, you should really check your tire pressure every month, not just when one looks flat.

Tire-changing tools – As well as a properly inflated spare tire.

Warning triangles – Place them at 10 feet, 100 feet, and 200 feet from your car if you are forced to pull over, especially if there is a narrow shoulder.

First-aid kit – Enough said.

Jumper cables – Don’t let a dead battery ruin your day, a quick jump and you’re good to go.

Duct tape – This covers a wide array of minor fixes from a broken window to a dangling tail pipe.

Garbage bags – Similar to duct tape, these can come in handy for a wide variety of needs.  For instance, when you need a seat cover for a wet dog or messy baby, or need to change a tire in the rain, or even as an impromptu poncho.

Map – again, the app on your phone is great, if your phone is charged and you have service.  Ironically, often times the roads without service are not ones you can easily find directions on.

Even if you’re bragging to all your friends about how sweet the sound system is in your car, just keep in mind that this won’t help you very much on the side of the road.  While you’re equipping your car with everything you need, make sure you have the right auto insurance coverage.
